Systems Interface awarded IRVR replacement contract by HIAL

Systems Interface (SIL), based in the UK, has been awarded a Turnkey contract by Highlands and Islands Airport Limited (HIAL) to supply, install and commission replacement Instrumented Runway Visual Range Systems (IRVR) at Inverness and Kirkwall Airports in Scotland.

In order to meet the airports ongoing requirements, the end-of-life systems will be replaced with modern hardware and software consisting of Biral Heated Visibility Sensors and Heated Ambient Light Sensors and DTN MetConsole’s Central Processing Systems. Auxiliary equipment includes ICAO compliant 2.5m RVR Fibreglass Mast, Modems, communication cables and power cables.

SIL will provide overarching project delivery as prime contractor, including the overall responsibility for system design, integration, and Construction Design Management.

SIL have teamed with Air Navigation Solutions Limited (ANSL) to deliver this project who bring relevant installation and engineering experience that includes the management of transition and operational considerations to bring the new IRVR systems into service.
