The timescales were extremely demanding with a mere six months available from contract award to completion, the project being driven by a requirement to vacate part of the airfield which had been sold to developers. We undertook this NEC-3 based contract aware that the timescales meant the project would have to be delivered exactly to schedule and required a highly coordinated on site team to ensure a seamless transition into service. The lead-times for key elements of the system demanded on-site work couldn’t begin until eight weeks before project completion date.

The project included all elements of airfield communications systems and featured the use of mixed fibre and copper connectivity. State-of-the-art equipment was installed and seamlessly brought into service thanks to the expertise of the on-site team, excellent transition planning and an exhaustively detailed approach to the preparation of the regulatory documentation.

The project was delivered on-time and in budget, despite the exacting timescales. Systems Interface has received accolades with regard to the quality of workmanship, including comments to that effect from NATS-NSL Head of Engineering who visited Filton later in the year.

John Littlewood of BAE Systems said "Despite challenging timescales and some emergent problems through the project, the equipment was installed on time, to budget and scope. This was mainly due to the excellent project management and high levels of professionalism demonstrated by the installation team throughout. Thanks to our experience I would definitly use Systems Interface again for similar installations and would be pleased to recommend them to others".
