Due to the urgency of the project all systems were designed, manufactured and installed within a very short timescale to ensure minimum downtime of the ILS. From the design of the gantry to the installation and commissioning of the ILS, the project took a total of just ten weeks.
The equipment included a Selex 2100 Dual Transmitter Two-Frequency Localiser System, Selex 14-element Two-Frequency Localiser Antenna System, Selex 2110 ILS Dual Transmitter, Two-Frequency Glideslope System, Remote Control and Remote Monitoring with a standby Radio Link capability.
Systems Interface also supplied and installed an equipment shelter and a bespoke 8 metre high gantry capable of withstanding cyclonic winds up to 250 km/h whilst ensuring the localiser met the requirements of ICAO Annex 10 for CATII operations.
Technical Safeguarding, ILS Simulation and Modelling were provided by Cyrrus Associates.
