Systems Interface Replace Hawarden Airport ILS

Following a competitive tender in 2020, Systems Interface were awarded the contract to supply a new Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Hawarden Airport in the United Kingdom.  The new ILS replaces the end-of-life equipment on Runway 04 and is part of an on-going development programme at Hawarden Airport.

Systems Interface Ltd (SIL) supplied, installed, and commissioned a NORMARC 7000 Series Two Frequency Dual Transmitter Localizer System, 12-Element Two Frequency Localizer Antenna system, Dual Frequency Glidepath System and M-Array Glidepath Antenna System. All Civil Works and Project Management was provided by SIL.

Despite Covid -19 Pandemic restrictions the completed project was delivered successfully on time and in budget and Hawarden now has a new fully serviceable ILS system to runway 04.

Hawarden Airport is situated 4 miles west of the City of Chester. Hawarden is ideally situated for pilots looking to refuel or take a break before or after crossing the Irish sea towards Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man. The airport is located next to the Airbus factory site which produces all Airbus aircraft wings and is owned and operated by Airbus Operations Ltd in the UK.
